The San Diego Gulls is a professional ice hockey team at the American Hockey League (AHL) that starts playing in the 2015-16 season. Based in San Diego, California and affiliated with National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks, the Gulls play their home game at the Valley View Casino Center. This team is the fifth hockey team in San Diego to use the name Gulls . The Camar is a relocation of the former Norfolk Admirals (AHL) franchise, joining six other AHL franchises to form the new AHL Pacific Division.

On January 29, 2015, Anaheim Ducks announced that it will buy their AHL affiliate, Norfolk Admirals, and will move the team to San Diego as one of five members of the new Pacific Division Charter AHL. The team plays at the Valley View Casino Center, the sixth professional hockey team to play there, following the San Diego Gulls of WHL (1966-74), San Diego Mariners of WHA (1974-77), San Diego Hawks/Mariners of the Pacific Hockey League ( 1977-79), the second San Diego Gulls from IHL (1990-1995), and the third San Diego Gulls from the West Coast Hockey League (1995-2003) and then ECHL (2003-06).
The names, logos and colors of Gulls are revealed on February 22, 2015 at HockeyFest. HockeyFest is considered a success, attracting over 8,500 enthusiastic hockey fans.
The San Diego Gulls play their first home game on October 10, 2015, against Grand Rapids Griffins. The team finished its inaugural season with an average attendance of 8,675, second in the league after Hershey Bears.
Rivalry
The Seagulls consider the Ontario Government, the affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings AHL, to be their main rival and advertise the game as "Rivalry Night." The teams face each other in the final of the 2016 division, where Reign beat the Gulls 4-1 in the best-of-seven series. San Diego rewarded in the 2017 Calder Cup playoff as they beat their 3-match-2nd SoCal rivals in the division semifinals.
