Geography

The old name for this is called Rivière du Boucan Brou , but today, this arm is channeled under the name Boucanbrou or Canal Boucambrou.

River channelization
In 1954, Hurricane Hazel moved a large sedimentary land in the RiviÃÆ'ère Blanche valley, forming a sedimentary dam stretching 192Ã,ìÃ,ò and diverting the RiviÃÆ'ère Blanche course from its natural bed. The waters find the outlet downstream with flowing directions from the SaumÃÆ' à ¢ tre pliers. In January 2014, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Association of Agricultural Producers was signed, to improve the alignment of RiviÃÆ'ère Blanche to overhaul its original 5.5 km long channel, and by utilizing it to strengthen this part of the river channel into weakness.
A warning system in case of floods, established in the city of Croix-des-Bouquets, to prevent the risk of flooding.
