Planet L Animals! VE is an online content channel created by Animal Planet and Discovery Communications featuring live 24x24 animal coverage. It features 22 Internet channels alone dedicated to certain animals. Of all the cameras, 13 are operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE, six by Explore.org, one by the Cornell Ornithology Lab, one by Africam, one by the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The home page is www.apl.tv.

Each live channel has an affiliation with one or more partners at home and maintains the camera.
The Ant Cam and Cockroach Cam are located at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Ant Cam shows leaf cut ants carrying leaf pieces back to the colony, while Cam Cockroach highlights a miniature kitchen full of cockroaches. These cams are operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE.
The Calf Cam and Chick Cam are located in South Mountain Creamery in Middletown, Maryland. Calves are dairy calves who at the right age will start producing milk for processing and distribution. Chicks at the right age will produce eggs for processing and distribution. These cams are operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE.
Cam Cicada shows the full terrarium of cicadas that climbs the Capitol model of the United States. Due to its short life cycle, it is documented that fresh batch should be added daily to keep the cam active. This cam is operated and managed by Animal Planet L! VE in partnership with Science Channel. This Cam is retired.
The Clownfish Cam features a water tank with various fish and corals. The dominant fish are clown fish and also blue pliers. It is said that this tank resembles the main character of Disney's Finding Nemo . This Cam is located at Acrylic Tank Manufacturing, where the Animal Planet's Tanked event. This Cam is operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE.
The Kitten Cam and Puppy Cam are located in the Washington Animal and Rescue League in Washington, DC Once they reach a certain age and meet certain criteria the animals are then open for adoption, and a new set of kittens and puppies is shown on the channel.. These cams are operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE.
Also in New Orleans, Louisiana, Penguin Cam shows a species of African penguins at an exhibit located at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. Penguins wear bracelet as identification. In addition, Parakeet Cam displays a variety of colorful parakeets inside a walk-around greenhouse. Visitors can hold a stick in an attempt to parakeet landed on them. These cams are operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE.
The Cam Tamarin is located at Atlanta Zoo in Atlanta, Georgia. This cam has two separate baits: one showing a golden lion tamarin in their bedroom as well as an additional camera located at the main facility. They are often quite difficult to capture on the screen for a long time, as they move from branch to branch very quickly. This cam is operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE.
Wild Bird Cam is a bird feeder camera located in beautiful Northern Virginia. The cam modification can be observed in an effort to curb the pigeon population of blooming and mourning. Cam is operated and maintained by Animal Planet L! VE.
Pacific Reef Cam is located at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland as part of their North Atlantic to the Pacific Gallery. This cam has various types of fish, as well as a diverse population of coral. Cam is operated and maintained by the National Aquarium.
Also at the National Aquarium is Sea Turtle Cam. These Cam shows often show sea turtles by the name of Calypso swim carefully around the area. This special sea turtle sport only three fins, but can still get around easily. Cam is operated and managed by the National Aquarium.
One last camera at the National Aquarium is the Shark Cam. As part of the newly renovated Blacktip Reef exhibit, the camera is featured on Discovery Channel's Shark Week as divers take questions from online viewers. This cam is operated and managed by Discovery Channel.
The Black Eagle Cam shows a black eagle nest that is embedded in a cliff as high as 164 feet. Located in Johannesburg, South Africa, this cam is operated and managed by Africam.
The Bee Cam is located in the Bavarian Region of Germany. Shot by infrared cameras, viewers can see thousands of honeybees collecting honey for their colony. Cam is operated and managed by Explore.org.
Bison Cam is located in Grasslands National Park in Canada. Bison is naturally free to roam within the park allowing other animals to be displayed on the camera as well. Cam is operated and managed by explore.org. This Cam has since retired.
Blue Cavern Cam is located at Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California. Also operated and managed by explore.org, Blue Cavern Cam has a large seaweed bed along with a diverse fish population.
The Brown Bear Cam is located in Alaska Katmai National Park. Double brown bear can be seen placed at the river fall waiting for salmon sockeye partying. It is documented that over 100 brown bears gather at this location for partying. Cam is operated and managed by explore.org, a branch of the philanthropic media of the Annenberg Foundation.
Panda Cam is located at Panda Binfengxia Panda, in China. Featuring the famous Wu Gang panda, this camera is operated and managed by explore.org.
Cam Puffin is located on Seal Island, Maine. On the edge of a rocky cliff, a puffin couple can be seen raising a baby puffin in its nest. Cam is operated and managed by explore.org, the philanthropic media branch of the Annenberg Foundation at Audubon. This Cam has since retired.
Osprey Cam shows the ospreys Rachel and Steve on a 30-foot tall tower located at Audubon Camp on Hog ââIsland. The osprey couple returns to the same den each year. Two osprey babies can be found in the nest. Cam is operated and managed by explore.org.
Explore.org is a nonprofit organization that has more than 50 additional cameras worldwide. According to media advisor, Jason Damata of Explore.org, the camera was "purely to inspire people to fall in love with the world again and give them a break."
The Great Blue Heron Cam is hosted, maintained, and operated by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, New York. Blue Heron has been nesting and hatching many young in their nest since 2009. This cam has retired.
Platform
At launch, Animal Planet L! VE is accessed through their main website www.apl.tv on computers, tablets and smartphones. On April 4, 2013 Samsung launched an app that can navigate the Animal Planet L channel! VE on Smart TV and Blu-Ray Players. Other media plans, including Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Roku players are applying their own applications in the future.
Reception
Brian Stelter from The New York Times has reported that Kitten Cam has been watched more than 25 million times since its inception. Stelter also reported that viewers watched the average ridge 18 minutes and 50 seconds. Chief Digital Discovery Officer JB Perrette stated, "It's been proven that people watch this and can not get enough of it, frankly."
