Being bound tongue , medically defined as having ankyloglossia, is a condition in which the lingual frenulum (a membrane connecting the tongue to the floor of the mouth) is very short, causing limited tongue movement.

In infants, this can easily be corrected by seeing ENT, lactation consultant, dentist, or midwife. Early detection and correction can also prevent breastfeeding problems such as loss of milk supply, sore nipples, and weight loss or slow growth of the baby.

The bound tongue might also refer to:

  • Tongue-Tied (book), a collection of short stories released by Paul Jennings in 2002
  • "Tongue Tied" (Opera Boom Crash song), 1995
  • "Tongue-Tied", a song by Earshot from their 2004 album Two
