Mal-shi , also known as Malshi, Malt-tzu, Maltzu, and Malti-zu, is a designer breed of dogs produced from a cross between pure Maltese and pure Shih Tzu. Most Mal-shis are F1 crossbreed, because there is little interest in developing dogs as a race. They are not recognized by the main kennel club.

Health
Because they do not drip, mal-shis must be often prepared (trze). Sometimes these offspring also have health problems because of their size, flat face, and small wind pipe. Some mal-shis suffer from White Shuffling Syndrome, defective knee joints, known as patella degeneration, which causes internal friction and can eventually cause arthritis. Mal-shis has a life expectancy of about 12 - 14 years.
