CNN International , which is only called on the channel as CNN, is an English-language cable, satellite, IPTV and international 24-hour digital terrestrial television channel owned by the Turner division Broadcasting System from AT & amp; T Inc. This channel brings news, current affairs, politics, sports, opinion, features and business programming around the world; in cooperation with CNN's national and international news network CNN. Unlike his brother's channel, CNN, the only US cable TV service that is mostly broadcast from CNN studios at Time Warner Center in New York City on weekdays and CNN Centers in Atlanta, Georgia over the weekend, CNN International is conducted on various TV platforms worldwide, and mostly broadcast from studios outside the US, in London, Mumbai, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi.
CNN International is available in most countries, its international reach includes over 200 million households, and hotel rooms in over 190 countries. For most viewers it's free-to-air, though some pay-TV providers include it in their programming packages, or issue virtual channels to the FTA version on the same satellite. The current managing director of CNN International is Tony Maddox.

History
Initial years
CNN International, largely the result of Ted Turner's globalization ideals, began broadcasting on September 1, 1985, initially primarily broadcast to American business travelers at the hotel. The first studio for CNNI was in the original CNN studio building known as Techwood, the home at that time for all channels of the Turner Broadcasting System. Today, it is home to the Turner Studios complex which houses entertainment channels. Other early Atlanta studios are housed in various corners of the CNN Center, and the newsroom does not even have a digital watch. Most of the network programming initially consists of simulcast broadcasts of two domestic CNN channels (CNN/US and Headline News). However, in 1990, the number of news programs produced by CNNI especially for international audiences increased significantly. A newsroom and new studio was built in 1994, when CNN decided to compete with BBC World Service Television newscast. CNNI emerged as an internationally oriented news channel, with staff members from various national backgrounds, despite several allegations from a pro-US. editorial bias persists. CNN International was awarded the Liberty Medal on July 4, 1997. Ted Turner, in receiving a medal on behalf of the network, said: "My idea is, we will only give facts to people... We must not show freedom and democracy as well, and show socialism or totalitarianism as bad.If we just show them what it is... obviously everyone will choose freedom and democracy. "
New international era (1995-2006)
In 1995, creative director Morgan Almeida defined a progressive rebranding strategy, targeting the diverse global CNNI market, making the display less air-conditioned in America and with a cleaner and simpler "international" aesthetic. The word "International" in the channel logo was replaced with a globe, and the new branding featured many international locations filmed at intervals, channels created in CGI with Velvet Design in Munich, and a news brand designed with The Attik in New York.
2006-2009 changes
The network made another major rebranding effort in 2006 overseen by Mark Wright's award-winning creative vision and London, Kemistry agency. Ticker was replaced by fins, the graphics on the screen more united and from October 2007 to August 2008, the new studio getting rolled out. However, on January 1, 2009, CNN International adopted the "lower-thirds" that CNN/US introduced a month earlier that was inspired by the clean, modern design of CNNI's rebrand effort.
In the US, CNNI North America was distributed overnight and over the weekend through the CNNFn financial channel, until the channel ended in December 2004. It is now available as a self-contained, full-time channel, usually as part of a cable provider's digital package including Time Warner Cable, AT & amp; T U-Verse, Verizon FiOS, and Cox Communications.
Override (2009-2013)
Throughout January to September 2009, CNN International adjusted more programs directed to primetime European audiences with multiple titles after CNN International, particularly the Amanpour interview program. On September 21, 2009, the channel launched a new slogan "Go Beyond Borders", along with a new logo, and consolidated the general news release ( World News , CNN Today , World News Asia , World News Europe
The slogan "Go Beyond Borders" emphasizes an international perspective that provides information in this string and plurality of audiences. With this tagline, CNN also refers to various platforms to disseminate its contents. New images created by the department of creativity and marketing, and the agency CNN Tooth & amp; Nail. An important element of rebranding is the new night program that adds the program broadcast of Amanpour and World One . The CNN International reshuffle has undergone many criticisms both on the new prime timeline and the redesigned graphics.
On January 11, 2009, in an effort to compete directly with Al Jazeera's international English channel, the network launched a new production center: CNN Abu Dhabi, based in the United Arab Emirates. Later, CNN International adapted a half-hour event in its schedule with a new night premiere program for Middle Eastern audiences, Prism .
In 2010, CNN International launched a new program for its evening lineup to improve its schedule. In 2011, programs from CNN USA were added to CNN International's schedule, including Piers Morgan Live's talk program which was later canceled and replaced with CNN Tonight organized by Don Lemon.
This is CNN (2013-present)
"This is CNN" represents CNN International rebrand with new set and output in high definition 16: 9. The slogan "This is CNN" is also used on CNN/US sister networks.

CNN has reported that its broadcasting agreement in mainland China includes the arrangement that its signal must pass through a Chinese-controlled satellite. With this transmission method, Chinese authorities have been able to blacken the segment of CNNI at will. CNN also said that the broadcast is not widely available in mainland China, but only in certain diplomatic blocs, hotels, and apartment blocks.
In June 2015, CNN International is available online in the United States for CNN/US customers at participating television providers through CNNgo services.

Online
CNN debuted on the CNN.com news site (originally an experiment known as CNN Interactive ) on August 30, 1995. The site attracted increasing interest during the first decade and is now one of the most popular news sites in the World. The widespread growth of blogs, social media and user generated content has affected the site, and the blog has specifically focused on previously scattershot CNN online offerings, most felt in the development and launch of CNN Pipeline by the end of 2005. In April 2009, CNN. com ranks third among online global news sites in unique US users by Nielsen/NetRatings; with an 11% increase over the previous year.
CNN Pipeline is the name of a paid subscription service, related websites, and content delivery clients that provide live video streams from up to four sources (or "pipe"), on-demand access to CNN news and reports, and optional "news alerts" pop-up for computer users. Installable clients are available for PC users running Microsoft Windows. There is also a browser-based "web client" that does not require installation. In July 2007, the service was discontinued and replaced with a free streaming service.
Judy Woodruff's Inside Politics' topical news program is the first CNN program to feature a collection of blogs in 2005. Blog coverage expanded when Inside Politics was folded into The Situation Room . In 2006, CNN launched CNN Exchange and CNN iReport, an initiative designed to further introduce and center the impact of everything from blogging to citizen journalism in the CNN brand. CNN iReport featuring user-submitted photos and videos has achieved considerable appeal, with an increasingly professional report submitted by amateur journalists, many of whom are still in high school or college. IReport became even more popular when Virginia Tech's shooting observers sent the first photo of what happened during the shootings.
In early 2008, CNN began maintaining live streaming streams available to those who received CNN at home. CNN International is live, as part of RealNetworks SuperPass subscriptions outside the US. CNN also offers some RSS feeds and podcasts.
On April 18, 2008, CNN.com was targeted by Chinese hackers in retaliation for channel coverage in the 2008 Tibetan riots. CNN reported that they took precautions after news broke out of the impending attack. The company was awarded at Technology 2008 & amp; Engineering Emmy Awards for the development and deployment of integrated, portable, digital live, IP-based, and store-and-forward digital data-sharing system.
On October 24, 2009, CNN launched a new version of the CNN.com website, changing it adding a new "signup" option where users can create their own username, new "CNN Pulse" (beta) feature along with a new red theme theme. However, most of the news archived on the website has been removed. CNN also has channels on YouTube's popular video-sharing site, but its videos can only be seen in the United States, a source of criticism among YouTube users around the world.
In April 2010, CNN announced via an upcoming Twitter food blog called "Eatocracy," where it would "cover all the news related to food - from recall to health issues to culture." CNN has an internet chat (IRC) network at chat.cnn.com. CNN held a live chat with Benjamin Netanyahu on the network in 1998.
CNN also maintains wire services known as CNN Wire.

Criticism
U.S.-centered viewpoint accusation
Former CNN Beijing and Tokyo bureau chief Rebecca MacKinnon illustrate how CNN International's priority collection is inclined to "generate stories and reports that will be of interest to CNN USA." Nevertheless, Jane Arraf, a former correspondent who, along with the Council on Foreign Relations and later served as Middle East-based correspondent for Al-Jazeera English now, notes that when she talks about international affairs, CNN International will usually give her more airtime from CNN/US. For its part, former CNN executive Eason Jordan has defended the "international" perspective of CNN International, saying "No matter what CNN International does, as long as CNN headquarters is in the United States people will say, well, this is American service. But the reality is that this is an international service based in the United States, and we do not make an apology about it. "
Allegations of anti-Israeli bias
In 2002, Honest Reporting spearheaded a campaign to expose CNN to pro-Palestinian bias, citing a public statement in which Ted Turner likened Palestinian suicide bombings to Israeli military strikes. On November 18, 2014, a misleading title was posted by CNN. Two Palestinian terrorists have entered the synagogue with knives and pistols, killing four Jewish worshipers and wounding seven others. The title states that two Palestinians were killed by Israeli police, thus equating the perpetrators of the Jewish massacre with the murder of armed terrorists. The title failed to mention four Jews who were killed in the attack of the Jerusalem synagogue in 2014. CNN declared that the attack took place in a mosque, when the synagogue was actually attacked, adding to the bias.
Pro-American bias allegations
CNN is one of the world's largest news organizations, and its international channel, CNN International is a leading international news channel in terms of audience reach. Unlike the BBC and its network of reporters and bureaus, CNN International makes extensive use of local affiliated journalists, and is often directly affected by, the events they report. The effect is a more direct force, less attached to the coverage in the field. This does not generate much criticism, especially from Middle Eastern countries, that CNN International reports on news from a pro-American perspective. This is in stark contrast to domestic critics who often portray CNN as "liberal" or "anti-American" bias.
Allegations of anti-Chinese bias
A Chinese website, anti-cnn.com, has accused CNN and western media of generally incriminating reports against China, with the slogan "Do not be CNN" into the mainstream of China as joking, "Do not be so biased". The image used by CNN is allegedly edited to have a completely different meaning from the original. In addition, the channel was accused of ignoring pro-China voices during the Olympic torch disaster in San Francisco.
On July 7, 2010, Octavia Nasr, senior Middle East editor and CNN journalist for 20 years, was fired after he revealed the admiration on his Twitter account to a militant Muslim cleric and a recently deceased leader of Hezbollah.
Allegations of propaganda and censorship
In October 2011, Amber Lyon claimed to the Syrian state news agency SANA that he had been directed by CNN to report selectively, repeatedly and falsely in order to influence public opinion in favor of direct American aggression against Iran and Syria, and that this is a common practice under CNN. He then repeated this claim, overcoming a state of journalistic ethics that was degraded in an interview where he also discussed the episodes of Bahrain, suggesting paid content was also drawn from Georgia, Kazakhstan and other countries, that the War on Terrorism has also been employed as a pretext to precede substantive investigative journalism in the United States, and that after the reporting of Bahrain, its investigative departments have been terminated and "reorganized", and employee severance and benefits are used as a threat to intimidate and attempt to buy it. the next silence.
Lyon claimed to have met Tony Maddox, CNN International president, twice about the issue in 2011 and has claimed that during the second meeting he was threatened and intimidated to stop talking about the issue. CNN issued a detailed response to Lyon's claims about its coverage of Bahrain.
Lyon also claimed on the RT Russia news channel that the CNN reporter, led by Maddox, had been instructed to cover Iran's overuse as a form of propaganda, and that CNN International had been paid by the Bahraini government to produce and broadcast a deliberately painted news segment. they are in a positive light.
