In March 2007, Ny. Tompson was interviewed by the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. "I want to breastfeed my baby, but with my first three babies, and I have three different doctors, I've never been able to breastfeed for six months," said Tompson. "
In an interview on December 27, 2007, by Pioneer Press for Wilmette Life he explained how he was elected first president of La Leche League: "They made me president because that is my idea," said Tompson. "I'm very shy and retired."
He also described the free birth of his first drug at a local hospital:
"I'm the only one in the hospital they see who gave birth naturally," he said. When Tompson gave birth to his third child, a group of 17 hospital staff - external, intern, even receptionist - came to watch. "They circled my delivery desk," said Tompson.
