The prohibition " not feeding the animals " reflects the policy of prohibiting artificial feeding of wildlife (wild or wild animals) in situations where animals, or people who eat, may be harmed. Signs displaying this message are usually found in zoos, circuses, animal playgrounds, aquariums, national parks, parks, public places, farms, and other places where people come into contact with wildlife. In some cases there are laws to enforce such non-feeding policies. However, some people (like some of those who enjoy feeding pigeons in the city) openly and strongly opposed laws that claim that animals such as pigeons can be a convenience to people who do not have a company like friends or family, and say that the law prohibit feeding animals in urban areas should change. In some countries, like Greece, feeding pigeons in the city is a widespread practice. Cultural resentment to feed the animals in the city and laws that prohibit such practices raises concerns about how humans relate to other living things in urban environments. Politicians also protest laws that ban eating wild pigeons in cities. Wild pigeons in cities exist for thousands of years but recently in some human countries began to see them as a nuisance and become enemies for them. In India, feeding wild animals in the city is considered a noble act. The academics say that how humans treat animals is related to how humans treat each other and thus raises concerns about the cultural shift from seeing wild town pigeons as harmless in the 1800s to seeing them undesirable in some countries in the 2000s.

In zoos, feeding animals is not recommended because of strict diet controls in place. In general, artificial feeding may result, for example, vitamin deficiency and deficiency of dietary minerals. Another motivation is the concern that animals will get used to swallowing foreign objects and may then ingest something harmful. Outside the zoo, the concern is that an increase in locally concentrated wildlife populations due to artificial feeding can promote the transfer of disease among animals or between animals and humans. Food can also change the behavior of animals so that animals routinely travel in larger groups, which can make the transmission of diseases among animals more likely. In the public sphere, animal congregations caused by eating can cause them to be considered pests. Artificial food can also cause animals to aggressively search for food from people, sometimes causing injury.

Zoo

Zoos generally prohibit visitors from feeding animals. Some zoos, especially zoos, do the opposite and actively encourage people to get involved with feeding the animals. However, this is closely monitored and usually involves food available from zookeepers or vending machines, as well as careful options for animal feeding, and provision of hand-washing facilities to prevent the spread of the disease. Domestic animals such as sheep and goats are often allowed to be fed, just like giraffes.

National and state parks

In national parks and state parks, feeding animals can lead to malnutrition due to improper diets and hunting behavioral disorders or foraging natural foods. It can also be harmful to people who do breastfeeding.

In the US, early 20th century garden management really encouraged animal feeding. For example, "feeding squirrels has been seen as a way to cultivate parks and recharge youth energy from aggression and vandalism toward compassion and charity." Park guard once the bears are in front of the throng of tourists. However, with greater awareness of ecological and other issues, such a pro-eating policy is now seen as harmful, and the US national park is now actively preventing animal feeding.

In Canadian national parks, it is illegal to harass or feed the wildlife, and Canadian Parks advise visitors not to leave "interesting food" like dirty dishes. Ironically, the signs "it is against the law to feed the animals" could be a food drag for the hedgehog. Road salts and roadkill can also act as food attractants, and removing roadkill is considered a good park management.

Marine park

Tourism operators often provide food to attract marine animals such as sharks to areas where they can be more easily seen. Such practices are controversial, however, as they can create dependence on artificial feeding, familiarizing animals to feeding locations, increasing inter-species and intra-species aggression, and increasing the spread of disease. In Australia's Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, it is forbidden to eat sharks. In Hawaiian waters, eating sharks is allowed only in connection with traditional Hawaiian cultural or religious activities.

The granting of wild dolphins to tourist destinations is also controversial, and is prohibited in the US because it can change natural hunting behavior, disrupt social interaction, encourage dolphins to approach or swallow dangerous objects, and endanger people who do feeding. At Monkey Mia in Western Australia, dolphin eating is allowed under the auspices of the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Similar problems for them in national and state parks also apply in suburban and rural backyards. Food made by coyote, deer, and other wildlife is not recommended. Eating deer, for example, may contribute to the spread of cow tuberculosis. Eating birds with bird feeders is an exception, at least in the US, although it can sometimes contribute to spreading the disease. In Australia, eating artificial birds is considered more negative. Instead, planting native plants that can act as a natural food source for poultry is recommended. Similar suggestions have been made in the US.

Public spaces

Wild pigeons are often found in urban public spaces. They are often considered environmental pests, and can transmit diseases such as psittacosis. The deliberate intentional feeding of wild pigeons, though popular, contributes to these problems.

Ducks are also commonly fed in public spaces. In one US study, 67% of people who visited the city park did so to feed the ducks. However, such feeding may contribute to water pollution and excessive bird population, and delay winter migration to levels likely to be harmful to birds. Feeding foods such as white bread for ducks and swans can cause bone deformity. Like doves, ducks can also gather in large numbers where meals occur, resulting in aggression against humans who have no food to hand as well as to other individuals in the group. Ducks can also be messy animals, and cleaning up areas where they gather takes time.
